MeVu is an online presence “helper”. It allows you to create a page, with your own personal URL, and include links to all of the sites on which you have a profile. First you need create categories to organize your links, and then you can start adding the URLs of all of the sites you belong to. These categories can be for anything – for example, you could create a “social networking” category and include your MySpace and facebook profiles. I came across MeVu today after creating a screencast for gleeme, and they are actually very similar services. The difference with MeVu is that you can add whatever types of sites that you want. Gleeme only allows you to add sites that are listed in their directory. While gleeme makes it easier for you to create your page, it doesn’t allow you to add just any old site the way that MeVu does. Here’s my screencast tour of MeVu:

Thank you so much for the wonderful screencast on our new site. I appreciate it very much. Mevu has only been up for four days and we’re getting inundated with new members already, thanks to bloggers like you. Please check back often, as new enhancements are already in the works. Demogirl, please feel free to email me with any suggestions you may have for any improvements.
Your source Mashable, made made an odd statement of a lack of customization. But, as you have seen, it’s highly customizable–maybe not in the “theme”, but it does in the complete control one has over the their links. We don’t care much about themes, we not MySpace or a social network, nor do we wish to be.
Again, thanks for your review. You have a really nice site.
Hey, thanks for the nice reviews.
I checked them out and i really like them. Both sides look quite new to me, I guess when you give them feedback (like that you would like to add more sides to Gleeme or order/group them as you want), they will implement it straight away…
I’ve just submitted a big batch of upgrades for our week-old Mevu.com site! Hopefully, you should see them in about a week’s time. I don’t want to spill the beans yet, but you’re going to like the functionality you are going to get! I’ll keep you posted.
We’ve just made a number of changes to MeVu.com that will offer more functionality for your own Profile Page that you have created on our site.
So, what’s in the new implementation?
- If a link is to any of your sites that offers a feed, visitors can now preview the feed in a pop up window, and subscribe to the feed right there.
- Your profile page now has its own secure contact form, from which a can send an email to you without seeing your email address. If you have previously entered a “public” email for placement on the page, it is now replaced by the contact form.
- A large, freeform About Me and Location field have been added
- You can now set your own Meta tags for your Profile Page, improving its Search Engine Optimization. Supported tags are Title, Description and Keywords.
- Visitors can subscribe to a feed of your profile links, so they can be updated when new links are added
- Members who make good use of their Mevu site will be featured on the Mevu home page
- Some internal changes have been made to help member’s profile’s to have better search engine results placement
We’ve also fixed some small bugs here and there.
Another, more major set of enhancements are in the works already, to be released in 2-3 weeks.
