Fences is a free software by Stardock that helps you quickly group your desktop icons onto different blocks (or Fences) on your desktop. You can choose to create Fences from scratch and add all of your icons manually or you can have Fences do all of the work and organize them for you.

Besides just helping you organize your mess of icons, Fences also gives you an option to auto-hide all of your icons by double clicking anywhere on your desktop. You can bring them back by clicking again. You can choose to have certain icons or entire fences remain open on your desktop when you auto-hide. You can re-size and move the Fences anywhere on your desktop and easily drag icons from one Fence to another.
I usually keep icons hidden on my desktop because the clutter makes me feel unorganized and I never really know where to begin if I were to clean it up. Fences cleaned my mess up for me – and for that I’m very thankful
.

Fence is a really great desktop application I have been using
it for about a week now I really like the icon hide feature
that feature alone comes in handy when creating screen cast.
Here is the article I wrote up about Fence
P.S. I’m going to update my post and put a link to your post in
the related article section in my post.
Toxic,
DGirl,
Thanks. Like Toxic I’ve been looking for an app that would hide my icons for when I need to make a screen cast.
I think I’ll be using this.
So it’s just like program manager from Windows 3.0 – 3.11??
